Educational game

Eric Berne, the founder of transactional analysis (the theory of personality and effective communication), identified so-called ‘recognition-hunger’ as one of the basic human needs. It is a sign that others recognize and acknowledge us and it can be as basic as eye contact, a smile, a hand on your shoulder, a hug, a handshake, a greetings card, a present or simply a comment such as „‘thank you”. Such signs are crucial for survival, proper functioning and development (just as water and sun are vital for a plant) and a lack of such signs can cause suffering for human beings.

Organizations differ from one another. Some can be described as ‘deserts’: workplaces where managers assume that when they have nothing to say, it means that things are going well.

In other companies, a good atmosphere comes as a result of praise, both in thanks for work done well and as a result of mutual interest in the reinforcement of positive behaviour.

More about the philosophy of the game:

We spend on average half of our lives at work. It is where we meet new people, develop our skills, and sometimes even find ourselves bored stiff. Sometimes we fall behind in work, at other times we are rightly proud of our achievements. Sometimes we are overwhelmed, while at others we have the chance to enjoy a coffee break and a chat with colleagues. We spend every day working alongside each other, building our companies from the ground up. But how do we influence one other? How do we relate to our colleagues’ behaviour? What do we like and dislike? What do others think about us? Do they feel about our style of working? When we ask our boss what they think about our work we have the opportunity to find out the answer to this question: but as often as not they have nothing to say. We assume everything is fine and that if our boss doesn’t give any feedback, they must be pleased with our work.

Being noticed and valued for what we are and do is a basic human need.. Whether it’s our manager, a colleague one desk along, a colleague from another department, or a satisfied customer, we want to be seen and appreciated for our work.

„Positively Twisted” encourages you to do things you might easily forget: to notice kind gestures, to recognize others, to appreciate their work and to value good teamwork.
